Welcome!

You are cordially invited to visit Amelia Baptist Church (ABC) soon! We expect you will enjoy our church–where you can worship, be challenged, receive Biblical guidance, experience fellowship and hopefully, become involved in our immediate and our worldwide community.

A Sunday School Class at Amelia Baptist ChurchSunday School is a great place to grow spiritually and experience great fellowship

ABC is a church that is focused on Jesus Christ and His message of redemption to the world. The congregation is very friendly and welcoming.  We are a rather laid back church, where you can wear either a coat and tie or shorts and flip flops and always fit right in. The music is a combination of both traditional and contemporary. Our Pastor preaches from the Bible, providing uplifting and challenging sermons that are designed to encourage and help us in our desire to follow Christ. At the end of the worship service, we believe you will feel blessed to have come.

Our church is actively involved in our local community and the world at large.  We have a dynamic local youth group and we sponsor the area-wide Allegiance youth choral group that is directed by our Music Minister, Pam Helton. Plus, we participate with the Salvation Army's Hope House to provide meals to those in need, host a Community Bible Study and an annual Vacation Bible School, and other community events, as well as mission trips to Haiti and other places in the world where the gospel is shared in a practical way as we address both the physical and spirituall needs of people in crisis.

Teenage girl holding a sign that says, "Free Movie Tonight" ABC Youth Group: This is not your typical church youth group. Our youth pastor, Nathan DeFalco (wearing a wig in the photo to the left) is committed to a family based approach with your teenagers.  The youth group is involved in enjoyable activities that are designed for youth to grow in their relationship with the Lord as well as with their families, while they learn, have fun and mature in the process. Both teenagers and their families will be positively impacted by this dynamic program.  Click on any youth group link for more information.

Haiti Mission Trip: Twenty one volunteers recently returned from our 2nd mission trip to Haiti, where they worked at a school and orphanage. Sherrie Fausey, formerly of Jacksonville is the founder of the school. When encouraged by her visitors, Sherrie said, “They had medical clinics, pastors’ classes, met with teachers, and did a lot of fixin’ and carpentry. They were great!” A retired teacher, she says she was directed by God to create this orphanage and school, having witnessed the enormous needs of especially the children of Haiti. Click on any Missions link for more information and additional photos.

Men from Amelia Baptist Church building a handicap ramp in Matewan, WVMatewan Mission Trip: For each of the past 5 years, 30-40 people from ABC have gone to Matewan, WV in the Appalachian Mountains for a week long mission trip. Matewan is one of the poorest towns in the United States and is located in the same county where the Hatfields and McCoys of the infamous family feud lived. Thirty six percent of people in this area are listed as disabled and 30% live below the federal poverty level. While we were there, Amelia Baptist Church was involved in teaching, repairing homes and other activities designed to help the people in need.   Click on any Missions link for more information.

Allegiance–Community Youth Choral Group: This group of talented teenagers is sponsored by Amelia Baptist Church, but comes from the community at large, representing  several different denominations. They perform locally and do some touring as well.  They have traveled together all over the nation to places like New York, Tennessee, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Colorado.  Allegiance in performance with percussion instrumentsAllegiance is co-directed by Pam Helton, college vocal instructor for 25 years and Music Minister at ABC, and Amy Scott who is the Instrumental Specialist at our church and at First Baptist Jacksonville Academy. Allegiance performs classical and contemporary Christian SATB choral music. Click on any Allegiance link for more information about this group.

Annual Independence Weekend Patriotic Choral Performance: Each year on Independence Day weekend, ABC sponsors a musical performance of God, Family and Country patriotic songs to help celebrate the founding of this great country of ours. Included is a beach BBQ picnic, along with a sing-a-long of the songs you know and love.
Then we hang around and enjoy the fireworks!

Children's Choir in performance at Amelia Baptist ChurchTiny Tones and The Children’s Choir: These two groups of kids really pack a wallop! They come from all over our community, love music and want to learn more from our talented staff.  They meet on Wednesday night to enjoy singing together, while they learn about music and the Bible.  Our church loves to hear them perform! Click on any Music link for more information and additional photos.

Hope House: ABC participates in a community wide effort to feed those in need in our local area. Once a month, a group from ABC purchases, cooks, and serves a meal at the Salvation Army’s Hope House in Fernandina Beach. We normally feed about 60 to 70 people who look forward to eating a wholesome, home cooked meal, served by friendly people who care about them. Of course, we clean up before we leave. Click on any Hope House link for more information and photos.
