Mission Trip

A group of 6 young adults from Amelia Baptist went on a mission trip to Haiti in August 2009 to work with Jacksonville missionary Sherrie Fausey in the school/orphanage she runs in Port-au-Prince. The follow up trip planned for February 2010 has been postponed due to the earthquake.

Earthquake Relief

There are three ways we are we are assisting in earthquake relief.
1. Contributions are being received for purchase and distribution, of food, clothing, building supplies to repair churches and homes, re-settling of Haitian refugees, particular orphans, that are relocated to Florida. These gifts should be designated for Haiti Relief, Florida Baptist Convention.

2. Contributions are also being received for Sherrie Fausey's school/orphanage. These funds will be used for food, clothing, staff salaries, and materials and labor for completing the school/orphanage building. These gifts should be designated for Haiti, Sherrie Fausey's School/Orphanage.

3. Contributions are also being received for the "Buckets of Hope" project started by the Florida Baptist Convention and now being promoted in Baptist state conventions across the country. Thirty dollars will pay for a 5 gallon bucket with lid, filled with rice, beans, oil, flower, sugar, spaghetti and peanut butter. ."
Each bucket will be identified as a gift of Christian love and support from Southern Baptist churches in America. Before it is shipped to Haiti, each bucket will be labeled with a gospel message in French Creole. Churches in Haiti will distribute these buckets. After the food is gone, the buckets will be valuable assets for carrying water or other things and for storage.

Make checks payable to Amelia Baptist Church, then designate one of the Haiti funds as you give compassionately for those who cannot help themselves.

How exciting it is to be a part of a church that is showing "Signs of Life" through:
Dusty Feet
Worn out knees
Rolled up sleeves
Open Hands
Outstretched arms

Where will God send you this next year?

See Pam Helton, or a member of the Mission Team, and let us know how you wish to serve!
I heard the Lord ask, "Is there anyone I can send?  Will someone go for us?"  "I'll go, "  I answered, "Send me"!  Isa. 6:8
